How the Suspected Fraud Scheme May Work
Based on the information available to us, the initial contact often begins with a non-binding business inquiry. The company expresses interest in establishing a business relationship or distributing German products. To appear particularly attractive, they often present promising business opportunities and high sales potential.
As discussions progress, they explain that an EAC certificate or a comparable conformity assessment is required to enter the target market. They then propose that the German company cover half of the certification costs.
In these fraudulent cases, it is common for the contact person to become unreachable after receiving the payment.
