New Service from Gebrüder Weiss

Gebrüder Weiss launches weekly overland groupage service from China to Georgia International logistics company Gebrüder Weiss is expanding its transport services between China and Georgia. A new weekly overland groupage service to Tbilisi is now available, offering an efficient alternative to air, sea, and rail freight. The new route ensures seamless cargo transportation from across China to Tbilisi via Central Asia. Compared to ocean freight, the overland solution provides shorter transit times, while offering significantly lower costs than air freight. The service is designed for companies in the South Caucasus that regularly import products from China, including electronics, consumer goods, and spare parts for machinery and vehicles. Cargo is collected nationwide throughout China and consolidated at the company’s main logistics hubs in Shanghai, Shenzhen, Suzhou and Urumqi. From there, consolidated shipments are transported overland to Khorgos at the Chinese-Kazakh border. The transit time from Khorgos to Tbilisi averages approximately 22–25 days. “Many companies are primarily looking for stable transit times and predictable costs. Our groupage service offers a reliable solution that operates independently of rail schedules or limited wagon capacity,” says Alexander Kharlamov, Country Manager Georgia at Gebrüder Weiss. Shipments are distributed across Georgia from the company’s logistics terminal in Tbilisi, which was expanded for the third time in 2024. From Tbilisi, onward deliveries are also available to Armenia. With this new route, Gebrüder Weiss continues to strengthen its presence along the so-called Middle Corridor — a key trade route connecting China and Europe via the Caucasus. The company aims to provide businesses in growing markets with greater supply chain diversification and additional transport options. Gebrüder Weiss is a global logistics provider with more than 8,600 employees and 180 locations worldwide, including branches in Georgia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan.
